Formosan Business Support Ltd. (FBS) is a local offshore renewable industrial quasi developer based in Taiwan / Asia-Pacific. Primary businesses are marine energy (offshore wind, tidal & wave power, OTEC) development through feasibility studies, site selection, demonstration sites and pilot projects until reaching commercial scale. Secondary businesses are ESS (energy storage system), micro-grid solutions. cyber-security and other automatic including AI solutions. Starting in 2016 in FBS participated Taiwan's brand new offshore wind industry. Realising the best solution to reach the goal of 20% renewable energy mix by 2025 and beyond is to implement global players into the local infrastructure. Since Taiwan has no oil and gas industry to build on, either no strong maritime industry and limited heavy industry infrastructure, it was and still a rough learning curve for FBS. Reaching in 2021 first commercial scale of offshore wind farm constructions, FBS spent five years to reach the possible maximum of localisation, meaning to use local resources including human resources to get 100% operational in Taiwan. Having a now a pool from engineering to design, survey and analysis capabilities, maritime vessel including local crews, inspectors, welders, coating experts FBS has reached a minimum to be operational along the supply-chain together with our clients / partners / contractors / suppliers and simply allies and friends, FBS is climbing up the leader in order to qualify one day as a co EPCI partner. In order to produce renewable energy nobody has done before offshore in Taiwan, FBS is taking it to the next level of marine energy expands to tidal, wave power, OTEC, etc. in close corporation with local and international partners. One mayor part in this are numerous contracts with local universities marine engineering departments, close relationship with local and international researchers. FBS is a supporter and co founder of the Taiwan Marine Energy Center.
