The vision of the Siyakhana Initiative for Ecological Health and Food Security is to establish, nurture and refine an integrated programme to promote health in the urban setting through improved food security, greater economic opportunities and healthier environments linked to urban food production and distribution. The Siyakhana Initiative for Ecological Health and Food Security is a part of the University of the Witwatersrand’s (Wits) Health Promotion Unit under the Faculty of Health Sciences. Siyakhana is a division of the Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned company of University of the Witwatersrand. Siyakhana and Wits are located in Johannesburg, South Africa.
