Despite annuities providing an income for life, they were unpopular as people wanted flexibility and control. That was great news for pension savers, but with flexibility came responsibility to plan for and manage your own retirement income and avoid the key risk of running out of money. In an ideal world everyone would take advice in planning to use the Pension Freedoms, but for many reasons they don't. Everyone in the industry knows this is a problem, so we asked ourselves what could we do about it. We built Guiide: a free retirement calculator to help people create a unique and individual retirement plan to avoid running out of money. In an ideal world everyone who requests a transfer value would have an adviser who can help them directly appointed by the scheme. Unfortunately they don't so they have to fend for themselves, taking their chances on the advice they get and what they pay, whilst trying to avoid anyone who would try to scam them. Again everyone in the industry knows of this problem and that's why we developed Guiide DB, an education journey with safe vetted and monitored advisers at the end.
