Christian Melgard Photography
www.christianmelgard.comI am a free-lance photographer based in Richmond, Virginia. This means I shoot a lot of stuff, people, objects, & places both in my Studio and on location. I am an extremely visual person constantly looking at my environment and people watching. Though I’ll probably never consider myself a Professional photographer until I am shooting for Rolling Stone or Nat Geo on a daily basis, I’ll be framing images in my mind and shooting pics til the day I die. I am a photographer due to my humungous appreciation for sight. Most people don’t know it but I’m blind in one eye thanks to an idiotic childhood accident involving four stupid kids and some BB guns. Thanks to surgery and kickin contacts I have 20/25 vision in that eye NOW. Life is such a gift to ‘see’ so take it all in, observe, think about, wonder, appreciate, & capture. I do have a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University….the #1 art school in the U.S. by the way. For me photography is pretty personal and I really get into every shoot. I love when people really get me. I work hard at trying to give them as much as I can in each session. When it comes to people that’s how you capture their true ‘self’. You gotta get to know a little about them, make them feel comfortable, have fun, and then you get ‘them’, not just their smile or look.
