The Athens University of Economics and Business’ MSc in Finance and Banking was launched in 1998 to deliver world class education for excellent students pursuing (or intending to pursue) careers at financial and banking institutions. The program aims to provide students with specialized postgraduate level knowledge and skills in key areas of finance and banking, including financial management, financial accounting, bank, risk and portfolio management, capital markets and investments. The curriculum is constantly updated to keep abreast of institutional and technological changes that are revolutionizing global financial markets and optional courses span a wide selection, including topical, hands-on practical courses as well as courses for those wishing to develop relevant technical skills. In addition to our regular courses, optional (but typically highly attended) seminars are also provided, focused on data analysis, commercial databases (e.g. Bloomberg and Reuters) as well as computing software used by market practitioners. Our students benefit from seminars delivered by both widely recognized academics and senior market experts on key topics of interest. The MSc in Finance and Banking is accredited by the CFA Institution (verified as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK)—including the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct). This confirms the program’s curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and that it provides excellent preparation for CFA exams. Two scholarships are provided by the CFA each year for students who wish to take the CFA Level 1 examination. In addition, several merit-based scholarships for the MSc as well as student internships are provided regularly by the National Bank of Greece. The program is offered both as a fast-paced full-time course aimed at recent graduates and as a part-time moderately-paced course for employees (courses take place during after-work hours).
