The service is provided under contract with DOC and administered by the NTIA. The mandate for all federal frequencies to convert to narrow band channels resulted in Federal Radio building site multi-site multi-vendor compliant trunked radio system. In 2003 the 1CommWireless service began operation utilizing the popular Passport trunking protocol. Voice dispatch and data services are provided exclusively to federal government and federal contractors in the Washington-Baltimore corridor. In April 2010 we introduced FedSMR-D the new multi-site digital trunked radio service. We are always striving to improve the quality of affordable communications. The introduction of digital radio offers a nearly 20% improvement in usable voice communication and allows support for data/text messaging and GPS location technology.
