Founded in 1974, TJ Mahoney & Associates is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping prison inmates become responsible, productive members of their communities. Our objective is to improve the likelihood of successful community reentry, thereby reducing recidivism and the long-term financial and social costs of incarceration. We have a successful history of operating programs for both male and female inmates in Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii. TJ Mahoney & Associates opened its first Hawaii program, Miller Hale, in 1990 through contracts with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Pretrial Services. Two years later, we opened Matlock Hale, a 16-bed program for female offenders. In 2003, both programs relocated to our current facility on Kaaahi Street. Miller Hale became Mahoney Hale, and Matlock Hale became Ka Hale Ho‘āla Hou No Nā Wāhine (The Home of Reawakening for Women).
