Higher Education Department, (HED) is responsible for education, learning and related services for students, as well as Faculty/ teaching & non-teaching staff, serving in Public and Private Institutions in the province of Punjab. Its aim is to achieve a highly educated society. Vision Enlightened and prosperous Punjab by reinforcing knowledge-based economy through provision of equitable, relevant and qualitative opportunities of higher learning at tertiary level. Mission: Improving quality of teaching, research and innovation, enhancing creativity and entrepreneurship and promoting equity, access, social cohesion and responsible citizenship. Policy Framework: HED aims at ensuring equitable access of tertiary education by developing a well-planned Hub & Spoke Model with a Divisional University as a Hub and District Universities and/or 4 year Colleges at each district level. In this regard, Acts of 10 universities have been approved, and the establishment is under progress at different levels.
