Many people in impoverished countries, such as Ethiopia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Philippines, Honduras or El Salvador, leave their homes and families and travel to work in distant countries to be able to provide for their family. This trend affects struggling women especially, single moms who are having to leave their children in the care of a relative while the mom goes to another country to work typically as a domestic worker for 2 or 3 years at a time. Work conditions are not ideal for these mothers. They are typically stripped from their passport, their freedom and any social life outside of their workplace. They live and work in the same place with very little opportunity to communicate or interact with anyone outside the house, sometimes staying in the house without ever being permitted to leave it throughout their contract which typically lasts 2-3 years. Many are abused leaving them trapped between trying to provide for their family and losing their freedom and dignity. Tabitha Reach was founded with the goal that these women should have the opportunity to stay with their families while being empowered to believe in themselves, learn income generating skill-set and have the means, resources and willpower to make enough income to move them and their children from a place of struggle to a place of thriving, thus setting up example for others to follow. Tabitha Reach is currently involved with serving women in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and working toward the establishment of centers in Honduras and El Salvador. Eventually, we hope to expand to many other countries in need of our support.
