Rotary Club of Fluvanna County
www.fluvannarotary.orgRotary Club of Fluvanna County was officially chartered by Rotary International on June 8, 2006, and became the 59th Rotary Club in District 7600. We meet the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6 pm at the Lake Monticello Firehouse at 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA. Come be our guest! Rotary International's mission is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. As ROTARIANs we serve both our community and the global community by our Selfless Service and Adherence to the Rotary 4- Way Test: 1. Is it the Truth? 2. Is it Fair to All Concerned? 3. Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships? 4. Will it be Beneficial to All Concerned? Fluvanna Rotary Club Foundation is our local non-profit whereby we provide services and scholarships to our local community. A linchpin of our foundation is the The Rose Deborah Altschull Edowment For Youth. This endowment was established on April 2, 2008 and is named in memory of Rose Deborah (Debby) Altschull, a lifelong educator and advocate for children in Virginia, who passed away February 11, 2008 after a short but difficult battle with breast cancer. To continue her lifetime work, the Endowment funds the needs of elementary age youth in Fluvanna county. “Bright Start For Kids” funds backpacks filled with all the necessary supplies for 2nd graders in to begin their school year each fall. “Operation Warm Coats” provides new warm coats to keep underprivileged children warm and comfortable all winter long. “The Summer Camp Scholarship Program” pays for children to attend the Fluvanna 4H camp at Holiday Lake in Appomattox. The Endowment Trustees always seek insights from local school guidance counseling personnel and administrators to help uncover needs within the community, with an aim to ensure that the needs of the youth can be served as soon as possible.
