Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) is a charity organisation that has been providing support and leadership to the voluntary sector and local community of Basingstoke since 1965. We are recipients of the Mayor's Award to Business 2018 in recognition of our work for the community in 2017-2018. Support and development We give free professional advice about setting up and running voluntary organisations e.g. governance, leadership, finance, funding, staffing, policies and procedures as well as working with the Charity Commission and funding agencies. Funding We educate voluntary organisations on the funding sources available, walk you through the funding process and offer a review of applications before submission. DBS For a small charge we offer DBS checks for the voluntary sector at our monthly DBS clinics. Volunteering We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities, including corporate volunteering, available via https://www.volunteernorthhants.org/ Training We manage the community learning programme, as well as providing our own selected training courses. Search training at https://www.bvaction.org.uk/sections/training-courses/ Affordable office space We operate and manage The Orchard, a voluntary resource centre and thriving community hub where voluntary sector groups can hire affordable hot desks and office space. Affordable meeting rooms Any organisation in the area can hire meeting and interview rooms at The Orchard, as well as a self-contained conference suite at affordable prices. Camrose Centre A project of ours is the Camrose Centre, a drop-in service providing support to the homeless, vulnerably housed and socially isolated within Basingstoke.
