In 1981, a need was identified in Queensland, Australia for a qualified mechanical hydraulic governor repair facility to meet a growing market in the shipping, power generation, sugar milling and mining industries. Governor Services Australia Pty Limited (GSA) was formed to meet that need and quickly established a reputation as a high quality service facility that could respond to the market requirements in the servicing of mechanical hydraulic speed governors. As electronic governing systems developed, the company approached Heinzmann GmbH of Germany to allow GSA to represent Heinzmann in this market. Later, upon agreement with Heinzmann GmbH, a new wholly owned Australian Company called Heinzmann (S.E. Asia) Pty Ltd (HZA) was formed to import, sell and service Heinzmann analog speed governing systems and associated equipment. As technology developed, HZA quickly concluded that a huge opening in the market existed for a digital speed governing system with improved accuracy, flexibility and control. Realising that none of their associates could provide a product to meet this growing market demand, HZA set about to design and build the first and only Australian speed governing system - the Si-TEC Digital Speed Governing System (Smart Integrated Turbine Engine Control). This system was totally developed in-house by the HZA staff in Australia. The Si-TEC system was an instant success and has been widely adopted in the Australian power generation, sugar, mining and local government industries. In October 2000, HZA released the Si-TEC Xtend Series with additional features for the global market. Today, HZA has been renamed as Heinzmann Australia Pty Ltd to more closely reflect the individuality of the company. Heinzmann Australia is the leader in governor technology in the South East Asian Region and as it expands globally, it intends to maintain this position through smart design, high quality products and delivery of superior services.
