The Smart Cities program has been launched in Mauritius to allow the emergence of new, smart urban areas across the country in the form of mixed developments incorporating offices, residential, commercial, educational and medical components as well as leisure facilities. Building on its developments started 10 years ago, MOKA is shaping into a smart city whilst committing to harmonize past and future, authenticity and modernity. The evolution of the MOKA region into an eco-responsible and lively city is based on the concept of "citysmarting", which is a process of continuous improvement, following a planned pattern of urban development. The four pillars of this integrated development are as follows: Optimal use of resources Making MOKA more intelligent requires improved road connectivity, smarter mobility and efficiency for sustainable development. Better quality of life MOKA will develop in harmony with nature whilst being a catalyst for the development of its inhabitants. The overall living experience will be improved to make it a cosmopolitan city offering a wide range of shopping, leisure and entertainment to visitors from all walks of life. Social engagement MOKA will strive to stay open and welcoming through effective collaboration with the community and public authorities. Social engagement will be promoted by Kolektif Moka ' mwad, an open and participatory platform for the inhabitants of the region, allowing them to collaborate, participate, share and meet around various topics. Real economic opportunities MOKA aspires to be a city where the right businesses infrastructures necessary to invest and create new poles of activity and excellence. It will also provide the perfect setting to stimulate innovation and reflection.
