Overland Travel Adventures

www.ota-responsibletravel.com

We offer private, tailored safaris to those interested in interacting with local communities through visiting community-based organisations. Our tours incorporate both the sight-seeing highlights and visits to local NGOs and community projects. Examples of the NGOs we work with are Amani Kibera and Tsavo Volunteers. Amani Kibera works in the slums outside Nairobi working with young people to facilitate greater opportunity for them – they have established a football league there and last year opened the only library in the slums, with plans for a bigger facility in the pipeline. Tsavo Volunteers is a conservation project based in the Tsavo eco-system where they are conducting an afforestation project, elephant desnaring, making paper from elephant dung, etc. Generally, we work closely with our clients to design their ideal itinerary according to their objectives, budget and time. We have our own vehicle that seats eight pax and can organise accommodation ranging from camping to lodges. The other string to our bow is the large group programs. OTA has partnered with two other operators in Kenya to run programs for school groups and community organisations that mainly focus on volunteering with the NGOs, but also incorporate some sight-seeing as well.
