Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine
www.drexel.eduThe Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® (ELAM) Program for Women is the only national longitudinal leadership program for women faculty in schools of medicine, dentistry, public health and pharmacy. ELAM's nearly 1,300 graduates hold positions at 300 institutions around the country, and 75% of women deans of medical schools are alumnae of ELAM. In addition, five deans of dental schools and seven deans of public/population/ health sciences schools are alumnae of ELAM. In 2022, we introduced the Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) . This program is a track of the ELAM fellowship that focuses more on healthcare operations and less on research than the traditional ELAM track. Acceptance into ELAM and ELH is determined through an annual competitive selection process. At ELAM, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive space where fellows can hone their leadership skills. To aid in this process, we strongly encourage the nomination of applicants from diverse backgrounds. This includes, but is not limited to, women who identify as BILPOC, LGBTQ+, first generation, military veterans and those with disabilities. The class selection is determined based on a culturally sensitive holistic review. ELAM is a core program of the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.
