The Fetal and Perinatal Medicine research group is based at Hospitals Clínic & Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona and is an interdisciplinary research team whose main strategic objective is to provide solutions to prenatal diseases by. - Identifying the mechanisms involved in fetal brain and heart reprogramming - Developing new technologies to allow early diagnosis and identifying potential therapeutic targets - Combining different methods to address fetal problems from distinct perspectives, with special emphasis on including a societal view in research design through effective relationships with various patient associations. - Integrating research from prenatal to postnatal care in the unit’s functional design, so that the fetus and child are seen as the same patient over time; this is a unique model that has received numerous awards.
