TAL (Think About Life) Youth Uganda is an economic empowerment venture in Akokoro, Apac, northern Uganda, co-founded in 2020 by Makerere University students; Onapa Ambrose, Akurut Sylvia and Ocaye Opio. TAL buys surplus sweet potatoes and turns them into delicious, nutritious doughnuts while employing young youth, especially women. TAL will create a production plant to recruit, train, and employ unemployed women to bake the doughnuts, and youth will be employed to sell them at local markets. On top of the bakery project, TAL Youth Uganda strategies to educate and economically empower young people by training them in various handcraft skills to ensure greater independence and engagement, thereby lifting them to their greatest potential. This includes recruiting five children every year, providing mentorships through the workshop, and providing hand skill training like liquid soap-making, bakery, reusable pads making, which will economically empower them.
