‘Building better work systems’ is what I do with public, not-for-profit and private sector clients...by installing lasting improvements, that are then willingly maintained by the people within. Experience shows us that sick organisations can always be made better - yet transformations are all too often short-lived, with staff and managers mistrustful of each other’s motives, and fearful for their futures...but it need not be this way! Literally addressing 'Purpose First' is a sound foundation for improvement, identifying those behaviours and values that inevitably cause sub-optimisation. My fascination lies in using systems knowledge - seeing organisations as living, self-regulating units, where making change using only traditional management approaches is always difficult, and rarely sustained.
