Our vision is to position neurosciences to the forefront of the medical research ecosystem and our mission is to drive a collaborative neurosciences community and engage government and industry to translate research into commercial outcomes. The neurosciences hold the key to understanding the brain and to developing more effective treatments for people with neurological diseases and mental health disorders. NSV has leading medical research members, including The University of Melbourne, Monash University, The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Melbourne Health, Austin Health, Bionics Institute, Swinburne University of Technology, Epworth Healthcare, Alfred Health, Victoria University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and Murdoch Children's Research Institute. Our medical research members work in a range of neuroscience and mental health specialisations, including but not limited to stroke, epilepsy, dementia's, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, motor neurone disease and brain injury. NSV's distinguished Science Council includes Victoria's leading neurologists and neuroscience researchers, and determines and sets scientific priority areas of focus in the neuroscience research and provides guidance on scientific strategic direction to the NSV Board. NSV is driven by its values: contribution and participation, collegiality and collaboration, communications and awareness, co-ordination and quality, and community. By enabling a vibrant neurosciences ecosystem in Victoria, NSV facilitates seamless relationships between the neurosciences medical research community, government and industry.
