Georgetown University Asian American Student Association

www.aasageorgetown.org

Founded in 1996, the Asian American Student Association (AASA) is a political, educational, and cultural organization that aims to serve the Asian American community at Georgetown University. AASA acts as a platform through which those who are interested in Asian American affairs can exchange ideas and experiences. Through our events and programs, we hope to explore the Asian American narrative, examine issues facing the Asian American community today, and cultivate an understanding of our collective–but non-homogenous–experiences and identities as Asian Americans. To this end, AASA is organized into three committees through which new members can get involved: Programming Committee, Political Awareness Committee, and Professional Development Initiative. We host a variety of social events for general body members and those interested in being a part of our family system as well. AASA also seeks to provide outreach to the Asian American community beyond Georgetown, partner with local organizations that advocate for the civil rights of Asian Americans, and build coalitions with other Asian affinity and minority organizations at Georgetown. This articles on this page do not represent the stance of AASA as an organization. Articles shared on this Facebook page are intended to bring awareness to multiple perspectives on sociopolitical issues in the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) community. AASA welcomes and in fact encourages discourse on controversial issues such as the ones mentioned in articles that may be found on this page. This association is open to anyone who identifies as Pacific Islander or Asian/Asian-American, including Southwest Asian and Central Asian. Additionally, anyone interested in Asian or Asian American culture is welcomed to join.
