Welcome to the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. With more than 260 full-time and over 440 non-GFT faculty, the department consists of 17 divisions spanning the breadth of Internal Medicine. We provide our services to the people of Hamilton, St. Catharines and the Kitchener Waterloo area, as well as other regional centers. We work closely with our hospital partners at the Hamilton Health Sciences, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, the Niagara Healthcare System and other regional partner institutions to deliver excellent clinical care framed in the context of academic inquiry. As the largest Department in the Faculty of Health Sciences, we are acutely aware of our role as an academic and clinical leader. The commitment of the department is to maintain and build excellence while maintaining a sense of fiscal responsibility and being aware of our fortuitous position as the provider of care to South Central Ontario.
