Since 1976, Hawkswood School in Eatontown, New Jersey—formerly School for Children—has been a respected provider of high quality special education services to children with complex, multiple disabilities, including autism. Since we opened our doors, school districts and parents have trusted us with the special education of more than 3,000 students, ages 3 through 21. Our name is inspired by the graceful red-tailed hawks that soar above the preserved forests framing our campus. Their patient, watchful nature and keen vision serve as a daily reminder to take time to notice what others might miss. We provide a comprehensive, individualized education designed to allow each one of our students to become empowered, fully self-expressed, productive, and contributing members of their families and communities. Our respect for the children we serve and their families is evident everywhere, and in everything we do. Parents often visit a number of schools in search of an appropriate program for their child with disabilities. When they get to Hawkswood, many tell us that, from the moment they walk through the front door, they knew Hawkswood School was different. Hawkswood School is a private school approved by the State of New Jersey to provide special education services and supports to students with disabilities. We are a member of NAPSEC.
