IPRS (Institute of Public Relations of Singapore)
www.iprs.org.sgIPRS, established in 1970 as a non-profit organisation, is the only accrediting body for Public Relations (PR) practitioners in Singapore. Our objective is to grow Singapore’s PR industry through knowledge acquisitions, networking, and exchanging of new ideas, and be the leading regional PR organisation to set industry standards and increase public recognition of this profession. Today, IPRS leads in supporting communicators in building their professional skills portfolios. We help business leaders and teams to acquire media and community relations capabilities. We continue to get ahead of the curve in critical topics in the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) matters and drive ESG Communications as an emerging key component of our industry practice. We are focused on providing a solid foundation of conceptual knowledge and ground expertise for practitioners who wish to upgrade their skills, and for those aspiring to join the industry through our core and customised training programmes, and ongoing discourse that are aligned with the many changes and developments in the practice. The Institute now has a membership base about 300-strong and growing. It consists of professionals from diverse backgrounds – PR, journalism, advertising, marketing, education and management. A factor that has contributed to the Institute’s strength and dynamism. Recognising the importance of nurturing the next generation of communicators IPRS established Student Chapters with tertiary institutions to create opportunities for students and members to share expertise and experiences. We now have nine Student Chapters each with their own Advisor and elected President and Executive Committee. The IPRS introduced the biennale PRISM Awards (Public Relations In the Service of Mankind) in 1987 to recognise excellence in PR and Communications in Singapore and the region, to encourage creativity and originality and promote best practices across all sectors of business and society.
