Take one look at Chalo and you can see we are a vibrant brand – colorful, joyful, happy – but there’s a serious mission behind it. We want to open your eyes to the beauty your city has to offer. In 2015, we launched our first collection. The first brick-and-mortar store followed in 2018, and now, with its three stores - one in Seattle, two in San Francisco - Chalo continues to grow. We can’t wait to make it to your city. Throughout our history, we’ve stayed true to our mission. Chalo was born out of a love for cities – Seattle, New York, San Francisco. And every city is a collective experience – a sum of all the people who live and thrive and struggle there. In their streets and in their buildings, cities hold so much history. As people come and go, they leave different footprints and contribute to the urban fabric in different ways. But cities can also be tough – they are loud, dirty, expensive, over-crowded, smelly – and yet, for these exact reasons, we love them. Which is why we’ve always felt the need to contribute to this urban fabric. Chalo’s purpose is to see a city from a different angle and our designs represent a childlike way of looking at the world. They’re manifestations of wonderment and hope, fueled by a sense of discovery and openness, awe and wonder. By depicting the cityscape like this, we aim to break the status quo of gritty urban imagery. In doing so, we imbue our cities with a sense of discovery, so that we can celebrate the little things and put a smile on people’s faces. Chalo represents those little celebrations of life, the small beautiful things that make life in a city meaningful, capturing the feeling of living life together as a community. While we feel it’s important not to take ourselves too seriously, we do feel that we have a serious responsibility to contribute to the cities we represent.
