We use microalgae to turn waste water and waste crustacean shells into clean water and algal biomass. Our biomass is rich in oil and natural pigments, generating a revenue stream for the treatment of water. We clean water from phosphorus-rich industrial waste streams, such as pulp and paper mill wastewater. We can also reduce phosphorus in natural bodies of water (lakes, streams, canals) down to as low as 9 ppb. Because we use chitin from waste crab and lobster shells instead of chemical fertilizers, the water treatment system has an ultra-low carbon footprint. We also don't put any unwanted nutrients back into the water. The biomass (oils and pigments) produced are also highly sustainable.
