Our mission is to improve access to education by building safe, well designed schools and learning spaces. Community Beyond Construction collaborates with local communities, governments and international actors working in remote areas to help design and build schools in low resource settings. CBC ultimately aspires to help provide better access to well designed learning spaces, for communities who have little to no schooling infrastructure. The way we work is centred around the core values, experience and expertise of our team in; anthropology, architecture, engineering and construction. We design and build schools alongside the community and invest time in truly understanding the local needs. Our approach, incorporating participatory design workshops, values local heritage and empowers local people as decision makers in the design process. CBC recognises the enhanced opportunity to make a greater lasting change in communities where girls and young women are disproportionately represented in education. We therefore, specifically engage with projects that help to improve access to education for girls and young women. CBC's activities include: ethnographic research; design workshops; architectural and engineering design; project development; construction management and skills training.
