Alan Reed began his career as a professional watercolour artist in 1984 and has since sold his work both Nationally & Internationally. Alan has been exhibiting his work and taking commissions for three decades. His watercolour paintings have been exhibited in many galleries in the UK and beyond, as well as his watercolours hanging in private and corporate collections all over the world. His clients include Coutts and Rolls Royce. Alan has received many private commissions including several for the government in Oman. “I produce paintings which are representational but not photographic. I’m concerned with capturing the light and the fleeting moment in time for which watercolour is ideally suited. I like to paint beach scenes, people and cities, particularly pre 20th century architecture and the hustle and bustle of street life. Working on location in Italy, America, the west coast of Scotland, Henley Royal Regatta and the Middle East has brought a creative sense of fluency to my painting. In recent months I have been receiving a number of portrait commissions in oil paints. One of my clients who has commissioned a portrait of each of his 5 children said that this project has far exceeding his expectations". Winner of "The Artist's Prize" in the Royal Watercolour Society Competition 2013 with my painting of "Jebel Akhdar, Oman".
