The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) seeks to offer its customers (governments, international institutions and industries) strategic decision support and advice in areas related to international and national defence and security. HCSS serves as a strategic partner by conducting research and analysis and developing policy alternatives. HCSS offers a unique approach in the combination of contextual analysis supported by qualitative and quantitative methodologies. HCSS conducts strategic research and analyses on issues of international peace and security, geopolitical developments and global trends, conflict management, defence transformation and terrorism. Our partners are political and military decision-makers in the Netherlands and Europe, as well as international and regional organisations. HCSS staff is available for media commentary on national and international developments and to clarify research. Aside from specific area-expertise, HCSS staff has extensive experience translating analysis into concrete policy solutions. A number of our staff also has wide operational experience.
