DELTA ESSEC is a legally recognized humanitarian association. For 10 months, the 25 Essec members gather funds for a local community in the North-East of South Africa and then they start a 5 weeks mission. All the funds are destined to the development of three villages in South Africa (Huntington, Lilydale and Justicia) where many children, often orphans, live in extreme poverty. The scope of DELTA is to allow to those children to study and grow normally; In this way, they will be able to participate to the development and progress of their own country. DELTA works with a local NGO, SWA VANA (“for the children”), that host every day 300 children in 3 different centres by offering them food, shelter, and education (they manage around 40 scholarships). Our objective is to have a positive impact on the economic, social, and cultural evolution of the region. DELTA is active, integrated, and present on the territory and collaborates with many local actors. DELTA wants to build long-lasting relationships between those actors to dynamize and increase the local economy. To do so, every year DELTA raises funds to pay at least 2 scholarships. In the last missions, our volunteers taught English, Mathematics and Physics, they created a “learning centre” with learning material and installed wi-fi in classes. They also created an irrigation system, a pit, and a greenhouse to assure food for children. All our initiatives are reported on the website.
