"God created a man and Zadar created basketball!" - as soon as people in Zadar are asked about basketball, their eyes begin to sparkle and you can hear this sentence very often. Zadar is considered to be the birthplace of Croatian basketball. Founded in 1945, the Club has won 8 national championships and 7 national cups. In 2003 Basketball Club Zadar won ABA League (Adriatic league) against one of the European powerhouses - Maccabi Tel Aviv. Kresimir Cosic is perhaps Zadar's best-known player. He was the first European All-American and first European ever drafted in the NBA.
