The primary responsibility of a youth worker (someone who serves students primarily in a ministry context) is to support families by providing a safe environment for a student to be themselves and seek healthy relationships and guidance for their lives. The primary way youth workers spend their time is preparing for weekly programs/events in an attempt to create that safe environment. Because youth workers are typically under-resourced, financially and relationally, they often spending a disproportionate amount of time on logistics rather than in relationships.
