Marine and Environmental Research (MER) Lab is an emerging SME formed in 2008, specializing in the marine environment. The company consists of highly qualified, motivated, young and experienced marine biologists and environmental scientists that specialize in the provision of services related to the marine environment, fisheries and aquaculture and have been engaging and working closely with local stakeholders of the sectors. Over the last ten years, MER Lab has successfully coordinated or participated in over 40 European and national projects, and research programs in the fields of marine biology/ecology, aquaculture and fisheries in Cyprus, and acts as a scientific independent consultant for governmental bodies. MER provides a range of services, from collection of oceanographic, and physico-chemical data, characterization and mapping of habitats, species identification, monitoring, impact assessments, mitigation proposals, to educational activities and organisation of workshops. Through the company’s research activities many collaborations have been established with many accredited scientists around the globe.
