Bolon

www.bolon.com

Bolon is driven by an indomitable will to change the view of the conventional – whether it is a square view of flooring or an antiquated attitude towards entrepreneurship. A will which has taken the enterprise from simple rag rugs to floorings praised by the world’s leading couturiers, designers and architects. Standing at the helm, sisters Annica and Marie Eklund are the company’s third generation of entrepreneurs. Their mission is to never stagnate but to reach for the stars with confident expectation. The company’s history starts in Stockholm in 1949. The sisters’ grandfather, Nils-Erik Eklund, had the brilliant idea of using textile waste from the neighbouring factory to manufacture woven rag rugs. The company’s name is a combination of the first and last letters of the Swedish words for cotton and nylon. The enterprise was handed down to Annica’s and Marie’s parents, Lars and Monica, in the 1960s. They continued developing the rag rug concept and created a completely new business niche – awning mats for caravans. The third generation of the family, Marie and Annica, took over the enterprise in 2003 and embarked on the journey that would shape Bolon for the future. Today, Bolon is a design-led business which draws influences from the world of fashion to produce unique woven floors for creative and inspiring environments. Bolon is represented around the globe and its customers include international brands and world-famous designers and architects.
