The Response Innovation Lab (RIL) works in disaster areas to create new ideas, test them, scale them up and build better disaster responses. Envisioning a world where innovation helps reduce suffering and save lives in humanitarian emergencies, the Response Innovation Lab (RIL) aims to be a transformative catalyst that improves humanitarian work. Our goal is to substantially improve humanitarian response and meet the needs of affected populations through the development and delivery of effective new products, processes and services. The RIL supports innovations and innovators by creating innovation labs in emergency situations. The spaces and innovation services create an enabling environment and catalyst for innovation for and with disaster affected populations. The lab is an inter-agency, multi-disciplinary and deployable and works both in protracted and rapid or slow onset disasters. We believe the lab will help catalyse more effective, efficient, timely, appropriate, and accountable humanitarian action through innovative practices that are ethical, follow humanitarian principles, be locally-driven and globally-integrated.
