Taran Microsystems was formed in 1992 by Managing Director Andy Miles and Sales Director Simon Miles. The company’s main line of business at that time was the bespoke manufacture of PC systems. Taran PC systems were built to exacting standards to order and sold via a network of computer dealers. This dealer network used Taran as their manufacture of choice due to the flexibility of design and the levels of support and service that they received. The critical factor in being able to supply systems to bespoke configurations in short time frames was the constant requirement to have the right components to hand at the right price. At these times computer components were often in short supply and having stock was king in this competitive arena. Taran got ahead of the game and setup a dedicated bordering team to source the best components at the right prices and this became a critical part of the companies success. The brokering team not only procured parts for the Taran system builds, but also bought and sold components to the other major manufacturers which was a very profitable side of the business. 22 Years on the company now has many aspects to it, both Andy and Simon Miles are still actively involved with the day to day running of the company.
