From 1992 when there were no reconstructive surgeons in Ghana, we are delighted to have helped to build and support sustainable training in Ghana, and now Sierra Leone. This has helped to transform peoples lives. We don't provide temporary services from visiting surgeons that make a short-term difference. ReSurge Africa is committed to long term support. Resurge Africa has the long term aim of training and empowering local medical staff. These Surgeons, Anaesthetists, Nurses and Therapists have attained levels of skill that have lead to the creation of a permanent and self sustaining reconstructive surgery service in Ghana. We hope to develop the skills and infrastructure to replicate this in Sierra Leone. We have already started training Sierra Leone's first Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, and have resolved to provide all the services necessary to develop care for patients with cleft, burns, trauma , cancers and disease.
