FAMILY AND COMMUNITY TOGETHER (DBA FACT Oregon) is a nonprofit family support organization serving families experiencing disability in Oregon. FACT Oregon’s mission is to empower families experiencing disability in their pursuit of whole lives by expanding awareness, growing community, and equipping parents, caregivers, and professionals. Guided by principles of high expectations, self-determination, equitable access, family empowerment, respecting difference, and the belief that disability is natural, FACT Oregon is led by parents of youth experiencing disability who recognize the complexity of issues many families face. FACT Oregon offers peer-delivered support that is genuine, empathetic, and educational, while honoring parents as experts on their children. Our primary objectives are to support families in holding high expectations for their kids and share tools and vision to help them positively change trajectory for their kids. FACT Oregon’s trainings, peer-to-peer support, and community building opportunities engage families in leading the charge for this change. Through services created by families for families, we help thousands of Oregonian families each year navigate barriers, create inclusive cultures in schools and communities, demonstrate that whole lives are possible for individuals experiencing disability, and bring family voice to systems change work.
