Hillsborough is centrally located in the Piedmont of North Carolina, with fast access to both Triad and Triangle cities. Hillsborough enjoys proximity to major universities such as Duke and UNC Chapel Hill and is home to a UNC Hospitals location. Interstate 85 runs through the town, and Interstate 40 is just outside town limits. Hillsborough is a small town with a big history. The downtown historic district, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features more than 100 homes, churches and buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, Hillsborough is a haven for artists and writers, boasts the fabulous Riverwalk for outdoor recreation, and has lots of vibrant shops and dining options.
