In high school, it earned me a state championship in dramatic reading. In adult life, it has facilitated public speaking opportunities through work and volunteer pursuits. Behind the voice is a sensitivity to the power of words and the connotations that verbal expression can bring to them. That’s where a degree in English from Smith College actually comes in handy. And having a background in writing and public relations for both the corporate and nonprofit sectors gives me the ability to understand things from the client’s perspective.
