The Polk County Treasurer's Office is responsible for the collection and disbursement of assessed property taxes. The Property Tax Division collects taxes for real estate property, mobile homes, utilities, bushels of grain, monies and credits, buildings on leased land, and city and county special assessments. The Motor Vehicle Division serves as an agent of the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Iowa Department of Revenue by collecting and distributing property taxes for vehicles as well as: • Issuing vehicle titles and registration renewals • Issuing specialized license plates • Notating and releasing security interests
