MiraVia
www.miravia.orgMiraVia is a safe haven and source of hope for pregnant mothers and their children. We offer pregnant women a way forward through residential, material and emotional support. Founded in 1994, MiraVia has empowered thousands of women and their children to achieve their dreams. MiraVia’s College Maternity Residence is a place where pregnant college students can live and learn with each other. Expectant students from any college or university are welcome to stay up until their child turns two, free of charge, while they pursue their academic and personal goals. Located at the beautiful campus of Belmont Abbey College near Charlotte, North Carolina, our unique residential program is designed specifically for pregnant college students and is within commuting distance of more than a dozen institutions of higher learning. Our services include: free room and board in a private suite, 24/7 access to knowledgeable and caring staff, material needs such as baby goods and furnishings, childcare, life skill classes, professional counseling and peer support. MiraVia provides a “Miraculous Way” of life for pregnant college students! Based in Charlotte, MiraVia’s Outreach Center serves pregnant women in need through long-term support groups and critical material assistance. For a full year, mothers attend life-skills classes with the same small group of other pregnant women in order to build meaningful friendships and a peer support network that will help sustain them after they leave the program. At each visit, clients also receive groceries, diapers, clothing, baby furnishings and other household goods free of charge. The Outreach program helps at-risk families build strong foundations for success by decreasing maternal stress, connecting mothers to medical resources, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and supplying material and spiritual support. The support groups are provided in both English and Spanish once a month.
