First distilled by the Dutch in the 1600s, our famous golden age, jenever has for centuries inspired bravery in our people. In Amsterdam's 19th century clandestine society, Levwater became a cultivated 'bargoens' term for jenever, stemming from the ancient word 'Lev'; or courage. Building on a long history during which it inspired the British to distill their national pride gin, while trying to emulate the liquid Dutch courage, we bring together historic pride with fresh modern flavours from 21st century Amsterdam and encourage you to be brave.
