Swiss South African Co-operation Initiative
www.ssaci.org.zaFounded in 2001, SSACI has been featuring as a key player in the South African Skills Development space for 20 years. We originated from a Swiss public-private partner initiative, driven by the vision to introduce Swiss & international best practices in the skills system. Since then, we have matured into a locally sustainable brand, whose continued mission is to bring innovation to the South African Skills landscape, informed by best practices from across the globe. As a registered NPO, we see our job to work on the projects that really count and can create an impact. Our three key work pillars: * W o r k I n t e g r a t e d l e a r n i n g * S k i l l s I n n o v a t i o n * R e s e a r c h & D e v e l o p m e n t SSACI has implemented over 50 projects that have piloted new ideas and approaches in TVET. Important characteristics common to SSACI’s projects are that they: • Are clustered around the two main elements of the national, public skills development system – namely, the TVET colleges and apprenticeships • Have work-integrated learning as a common conceptual theme • Align with government priorities as outlined in the National Skills Development Strategy, the National Skills Accord and the White Paper on Post-School Education and Training, 2012-2030 • Are co-implemented with government departments or agencies so as to have a high potential for systemic impact (i.e. for improving the national skills-development system) and sustainability beyond the period of donor funding and SSACI support.
