HISTORY Columbus Songwriters Association has become the largest songwriter organization in the Midwest. We were founded by Joey Hendrickson, Derek DuPont, and a passionate group of 25 songwriters at a coffee shop on October 21, 2012. Today, over 400 songwriters have joined and we operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, public charity. Learn how to support our growth. MISSION Through a community effort, Columbus Songwriters Association strengthens the value of songwriting and independent music in Columbus. VISION Through collaboration with musicians, businesses, and arts organizations, we create new value for music by building community, advocating for songwriters, and the value of independent music. Through education, we help songwriters and independent artists be relevant amidst the changes in the music industry. We create, attract, and share opportunities with our community that help songwriters get paid. We believe in Columbus as the cultural and economic destination for new growth in independent music. SERVICES CSA partners with music venues, recording studios, production companies, local stores, music festivals, and other organizations to provide opportunities for songwriters that are valuable to our community. Our network empowers local songwriters to keep creating music. CSA also supports Local Music Shelf, a program that distributes, streams, and licenses music to stores and brands in Columbus. EVENTS In 2014, CSA organized performances for major festivals like Central Ohio Folk Music Festival, Fashion Meets Music Festival, Oktoberfest Columbus, Old Hilliard Fest, Independents Day, and other community events like For You & Me at Easton Town Center, Easton Farmers Market, and MADE Local Marketplace.
