Institut for Kunstterapi
www.kunstterapi.dkThe institute have existed since 1987, where the first educational group started. New groups start each year in February. The education has been running in Norway for 14 years, but expects to start up again in 2017. We run international groups in art therapy, based on a Jungian approach, which is different from art therapy in most other European countries. The emphasis on the self-developmental aspect of becoming an art therapist is considered important, as well as a connection to one’s own creativity. Basic activities at the Institute is a 4-year educational art therapy program that has been evaluated by the Danish psychotherapy union. The approach is based on a Jungian orientation, where the relationship between conscious and unconscious processes is important using the artwork as a bridge. The expressive process and the dialogue with images are considered equally important in the training. The use of imagination together with associative links to memories from the past is also considered of equal value in relation to therapeutic change. The program consists of 17 weeks where each week has a theme and where different creative modalities are used. Art therapy, psychodrama, music therapy and body therapy, with an emphasis of connecting each creative modality with painting. During the courses students live together in the school, where they are free to use the painting space outside of teaching. Different other courses are also being offered at the Institute each year, with different themes.
