Ellacrea
www.ellacrea.caEllacrea ("she creates") is an exciting small business start-up by award-winning Oakville, Ont. Textile Designer, Zelda Middleton. She initiated the company in the last year of her studies and formalized registration late 2020. Her Bachelors Degree in Craft and Design (Textile Design), and business experience from a former career in Corporate Public Relations have come together to create the perfect environment for creativity and business savvy to grow this new venture. Fabric and materials are an undeniable passion for Zelda. Fuelled by this passion she explores innovative design and construction tirelessly, with so much energy. Her constant searching for creative solutions to design problems and seeking novel applications led her to the topic of the Capstone Thesis for her degree program: "Connecting Creativity and Neuroscience" was the title of her publication/project. In it she explored the fascinating connections between individual creativity and neuroscience and the implications thereof. For this she literally took a look inside the brain and studied what it actually means to be creative. This research work continues to inspire her and inform large parts of her textile design practice. She truly respects innovative, courageous and thoughtful artists, globally who believe strongly in expressing themselves with creativity. Her textile designs are sold under license to the industry and she also sells handmade textile products from her studio and through her e-commerce store, www.ellacrea.ca.
