Rogue Squadron is a rapid prototyping group and red team situated with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU). We have three focus areas: (1) equipping friendly forces with autonomous systems (2) developing technology to defeat adversary UAS and (3) red teaming government entities and commercial vendors, to ensure we have the best possible capabilities to defeat UAS threats. Rogue Squadron is a small, dynamic, collaborative team. Every day is different, but our diverse roles and responsibilities combine technical expertise with opportunities to influence government interaction with UAS and C-UAS commercial industry. We primarily operate out of a garage/workshop environment and use agile methodologies to rapidly develop new capabilities, iterate, and push capabilities directly into the field. Our team also controls a UAS range with tremendous freedom, including beyond-visual-line-of-sight flight. We interact on a daily basis with warfighter units and cutting-edge commercial companies. As a component within DIUx, we also contribute subject matter expertise to the larger organization. Rogue Squadron recognizes that we are entering a future of ubiquitous autonomy. That will create tremendous opportunity, but also unprecedented dangers. Our goal is to work within the Department of Defense and U.S. government to lay a strong, secure foundation for autonomous systems, while working proactively to anticipate and defeat emerging threats.
