Born in Perth Western Australia, at just 21 Calan Williams is one of the most exciting young drivers on the international motorsport scene. After a stellar karting career, he incredibly won his debut car race event in the 2015 WA Formula Ford State Championship. In 2017, he further asserted his talent by dominating the Australian Formula 3 Championship, winning the title in his debut season claiming Pole Position and wins at every round. Making the huge leap to racing Formula 3 in Europe, Calan competed with the highly regarded UK based team Fortec Motorsports through 2018 and 2019 in the Euroformula Open Championship. and in 2020 and 2021 raced with Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport in the FIA Formula 3 Championship alongside Formula 1 Grand Prix events. Now Calan has secured his seat in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Italian based Trident Motorsport, placing him in one of the top 22 seats in the world outside of Formula 1. The management of a driver through the levels toward Formula 1 is a complex and dynamic business. Even though drivers are committed full time once they have secured a seat to race at the level of Formula 3 in Europe, an unusual characteristic of the sport is that the driver also needs to source the sizeable budget required to run their competition across the year. To source the required funding to manage Calan’s progression toward Formula One, a unique shares program has been established through Calan Williams Racing Investments Pty Ltd. Along with sponsorship packages, the issuing of these shares has successfully produced the annual budgets required for Calan’s first 4 years of competition in Europe. Calan Williams Racing (CWR) Pty Ltd was formed to manage all the work associated with Calan’s racing. This includes selecting and negotiating contracts with the race teams, managing all the support mechanisms around Calan, travel and other logistics, administration, and budgeting along with the important work of selling sponsorship packages.
