AVW Architecture was founded in 2010 by Angeliki Athanasiadou and Katerina Vassilakou, after gaining a vast experience in the architecture field through collaborations as well as in individual projects. Both founding members have graduated from the National Technical University of Athens and have been awarded by the Technical Chambers of Greece for their Diploma Thesis. From Schematic Design phase, through Design development, to Construction documents and Construction supervision, AVW Architecture has encountered a range of projects varied by scale, location and character. AVW Architecture has provided professional architectural services for new construction, restoration and renovation projects for commercial, residential, industrial and state clients. AVW experience in architectural design and construction has covered challenging projects; from tailor design of commercial brands to larger scale developments, realises inventive solutions, attaining each project with a high level of expertise from conception to construction detail. The firm has developed a local and regional reputation for excellence in adaptive re-use, compatible additions, design methodology for low cost construction, optimization and scheduling. AVW staring project, "Reviving Dafnomili 48A", has received a distinction from the Hellenic Institute of Architecture as a model example of existing building conversion. Since 2014 AVW Architecture has expanded their experience in airport architectural design and design review. As external associates and architectural advisor for the joint venture of Aktor Concessions - Vinci Airports, during the period March-October 2014, participated in the competition for privatization of 14 Greek Regional Airports. Particularly, the team worked closely with the concessionaire as well as the EPC contractor, undertook counseling regarding the design of terminal buildings and landslide zones, developed solid architectural solutions on extending terminal buildings usage, administered concept issues, as well as construction tactics and regulatory issues. Since 2015, AVW is acting as technical consultant and architectural designer on behalf of FRAPORT Greece for the project of the “Privatization of the 14 Regional Airports of Greece” for Clusters A and B (including design, review and implementation consultancy services). Recently, in collaboration with A.N.Tombazis & Associates Architects have designed the expansion of the Athens International Airport's Main Terminal Buildin With a multidisciplinary nature, AVW Architecture combines together experience from the fields of architecture, design, arts and academia. Both principals have attended international conferences and workshops and their completed projects as their academic work has been published several times.
