Nervi Cantine (Azienda vitivinicola SRL)

www.nervicantine.it

Nervi is the oldest winery in Gattinara, one of Italy's historical terroirs. We produce fine red wine from 28,5 hectares of Nebbiolo vines spanning the Casaccie, Garavoglie, Molsino and Valferana vineyards. These hold volcanic gravel, high clay content and low pH, a unique combination in the Italian oenological context. Our style is traditional, and we use larke oak casks for aging in our cellars from the 1850s. Nervi has made two crus since 1970, Nervi Gattinara vigneto Molsino and Nervi Gattinara vigneto Valferana. Both vineyards known for their particular terroir. Molsino producing exceptional elegance and silky tannins and Valferana with a minerality derived from the particularly high content of iron and manganese in the soil. Valferana is already named as a unique parcel in the municipal archives in 1228, as the Musso brothers had to sell their vineyard to pay for the dowry of their sister Delia. Molsino is already mentioned in the local "Cattasto" as Vigna ad Molexinum in 1475 - as one of three vineyards with the highest value.
